Abstract

We report intracavity generation of greater than 10 mJ of 0.527-μm output with approximately 80% extraction efficiency in a single transverse mode in a flash-lamp-pumped, accousto-optically Q-switched system of low average output power. A 5-mm KTP cube was utilized as the doubling crystal, angle-tuned to phase match at 1.054 μm. Both a linear configuration and a folded configuration were utilized, with a twofold increase in efficiency in the latter case. Overcoupling was observed with the expected pulse broadening of the second-harmonic pulse and limiting of the peak intracavity fundamental power.
