Regularities of negative-ion resonances

Abstract

Some regularities of doubly excited negative-ion resonances can be identified by comparison of properties along isoionic sequences. We discuss in particular the b and c resonances of Ne and their analogs in neighboring elements, for which a variety of experimental and theoretical data are available. The analysis shows that the “grandparent” model of these resonances provides an appropriate angular-momentum coupling scheme but that some essential dynamical features are not associated with distinctive properties of an excited electron pair.
