Abstract

We describe and compare different configurations for the generation of carrier-envelope (CE) phase-stabilized sub-two-cycle pulses directly from prismless octave-spanning Ti:sapphire lasers without extracavity nonlinear optical processes significantly distorting or attenuating the main laser output. The spectral components necessary for f2f interferometry are generated intracavity and independently coupled out from the main pulse through specially designed laser mirrors. This nonintrusive approach has many advantages compared to other more conventional methods that require a substantial amount of the full laser output to generate the f2f components. We demonstrate the generation of CE phase stable sub-two-cycle pulses with high-quality temporal profiles and low CE phase noise.
