Abstract

Ultraviolet broad emission from 265to360nm was observed in a Pr3+:Y2SiO5 crystal under pump by a 532nm Nd:YAG laser. The two-photon simultaneous absorption process is found to be responsible for the UV emission based on the fluorescence intensity dependence on the pump power as well as the related spectroscopic analyses.
