Nonsecular expansion of evolution operator and field statistics

Abstract

A new expansion of the evolution operator is obtained that describes the interaction of an atom with a quantum-electromagnetic field. This expansion, in contrast to the traditional ones, does not contain secular terms. Time evolution of photon antibunching and bunching in degenerate two-photon processes in an atom is investigated. The method of radiation preparation having sub-Poisson statistics is discussed.
