Abstract
A self-induced transparency soliton in a near-resonant two-level system exhibits properties of a nonlinear Schrödinger soliton. The interplay between near-resonant and nonresonant nonlinearities in doped fibers offers the possibility of effective control of the soliton’s parameters. As an example, it is shown that a wide range of frequencies is suitable for nonlinear Schrödinger 2π-soliton generation in semiconductors.
