The spectra were produced with a high-voltage spark discharge and photographed with the National Bureau of Standards’ 10.7-m grazing-incidence spectrograph. The Ag i-like transition array 4d105s–4d95s5p was first identified by comparison with the analogous array in the Cu i isoelectronic sequence, then by comparison with a calculated spectrum. The latter was obtained with scaled Hartree–Fock radial energy integrals. The array has been observed most completely in I vii and Xe viii and, with decreasing strength, to higher sequence members. In Sm xvi and Eu xvii only the strongest line was found. The energy levels and the fitted parameter values for I vii and Xe viii are given.
