Metal-clad and absorptive multilayer waveguides: an accurate perturbation analysis

Not Accessible

Abstract

A simple accurate perturbation analysis is presented to calculate the attenuation of guided modes in metal-clad or weakly absorptive multilayer waveguides. The imaginary part of the complexmodal index that defines the attenuation is obtained from simple algebraic calculations once the real solution corresponding to a real eigenvalue equation is obtained. The results are in agreement with those obtained by an exact complex analysis.
