Depth from zooming

Abstract

A new method of recovering depth, which uses only one camera equipped with a zoom lens, is presented. The gradient-based as well as the feature-based schemes for recovering depth from zooming are discussed. Both the theoretical analysis and some preliminary experiments show that zooming can provide information concerning depth. Experiments on synthetic images are presented.
