Abstract

The noise coefficient (in variance) of wave-front reconstruction from shearing interferometric data is calculated for the special case of a square aperture. For a wave front on N2 grid points the noise coefficient gn is found to be gn ≈ 0.2957 + 0.0825 ln(N2) for 8 ≤ N ≤ 300; gn ~ (1/4π)ln(N2) as N → ∞.
