Abstract

A statistical mechanical approach to random phase screens is adapted to describe telegraph-wave phase screens with a bias. The results agree with those found by Jakeman and Renshaw [ J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 4, 1206 ( 1987)] for an asymmetrically correlated random-walk model for scattering.
