Computer-generated holograms: defect resistance by object phase manipulation

Abstract

In computer holography it is possible to incorporate a manipulable phase distribution together with the input data. It is shown how a deterministic phase can be used to improve the defect resistance of computer-generated holograms. This resistance is discussed in respect to the redundancy of band-limited input data. A comparison between the defect resistance using a deterministic and a random phase is presented.
