Abstract

An analysis of free-space interconnect systems based on the propagation of the mutual spectral density function has been developed. The signal intensity at the detector plane as a function of the temporal and spatial coherence of the light source was determined. The spatial coherence of the scattered light was analyzed, and the degree of the spatial coherence at the detector plane was derived as a function of the diffuser parameters. The analytical relationship between the count degeneracy parameter of the scattered field and the photocount signal-to-noise ratio is established.
