Abstract

A unified numerical approach based on the finite-element method is described for the analysis of anisotropic dielectric grating diffraction. Both the TE and TM wave incidences are treated. The finite-element method is used for the region corresponding to one period of the grating, and analytical relations and periodic conditions are introduced on the boundaries surrounding the one-period region. Numerical examples are shown for a groove-type LiNbO3 grating with rectangular profile on a silver substrate.
