Abstract
The restoration of an object from its blurred image is made difficult by the presence of noise in the image and the ill condition of the blurring matrix. Existing literature has concentrated on smoothing methods to reduce the effects of noise but has paid little attention to quantifying the amount of ill condition of the blurring matrix. We propose a measure of condition appropriate for image restoration and study the degree of ill condition of the blurring matrix. The dependence of the condition on the size of the image is demonstrated.
