Creating color patterns with ordered latices

Abstract

Color patterns can be created by applying different electrical voltages over various regions of an ordered latex dispersion. From electrically induced changes in diffraction patterns, which consisted of a bright halo containing a dark ring that was obtained by illuminating and observing the latex dispersion normally, the structure of the latex dispersion responsible for the color changes can be deduced.
