Abstract

Imaging under quasi-homogeneous (Carter–Wolf-model) partially coherent illumination is shown to be linear. The effective transfer function is shown to be a cross section of the transmission cross coefficient that characterizes nonlinear imaging with a Schell-model partially coherent illumination.
