Abstract
In this paper a method of determining a dielectric tensor field in a weakly inhomogeneous anisotropic medium with optical activity is presented on the basis of an electro-optical theory of light propagation in such a medium. The medium is divided into many identical cubic cells and each cell has some unknown parameters to be determined. Its tensor field is approximately represented by the unknown parameters of all the cells. The evaluation of these parameters from the data, which are collected by recording the amplitudes and relative phase retardations in many wave fronts passing through such a medium in various directions, is considered.
