Abstract
A new method is proposed to solve the phase problem of the optical coherence theory. The method consists of generating a phase-conjugate wave using a suitable nonlinear process and superimposing it with the original wavefield. We discuss how the method could be applied to obtain the intensity distribution across an incoherent light source.
