Fourier optical synthesis of Zernike’s three-slit interferometer

Abstract

The three equidistant slits of Zernike’s phase delay interferometer were replaced by the central three diffraction orders in the optical transform of a grid. With the proper choice of grid aspect ratio, the method could be used to measure small phase delays in the presence of large attenuations.
