Abstract

The spectrum of doubly ionized rubidium, Rb iii, was observed with a pulsed-rf light source on two 10.7 m normal-incidence spectrographs at NBS. Wavelengths and classifications were obtained for 103 Rb iii lines, 90 of which were newly observed. The three missing levels of the 4p4 4d configuration, (3P)4F9/2 and (1D)2G7/2,9/2, and the one missing level of the 4p4 5p configuration, (1S0)[1]1/2, were located. The 4p4(1D)5d 2G9/2 level was also located. Improved values were determined for 13 excited levels.
