Abstract

The additional boundary condition (abc) is derived for a semi-infinite spatially dispersive-model medium, assuming normal incidence. The model is descriptive of an insulating crystal in the vicinity of an isolated exciton absorption band. Only when spatial dispersion is sufficiently weak does this abc reduce to the generally accepted abc.
