Abstract
The stress-optical dispersion of single-crystal NaF over the range from 570 to 250 nm is reported. The coefficients q11–q12 and q44 vary, respectively, from −1.35 to −2.22 Brewsters and from −0.66 to −0.81 Brewster at room temperature (26°C). The intensity method developed earlier by one of us was modified and used for these measurements. A more detailed analysis of the intensity method is given, revealing a number of finer aspects that were not recognized originally.
