Abstract

Far-field diffraction patterns of a general triangular-wave object formed by a circular aperture with amplitude filters have been studied. Assuming the use of incoherent illumination, expressions for the image irradiance have been derived. Results have been given for the irradiance distribution in the images and the general triangular-wave response of the system. The triangular-wave response for a particular object function has been shown to be quite close to the sine-wave response of the system.
