Propagation Velocity of Lateral Interaction in the Human Visual System

Abstract

Interactions between line stimuli include luminance-threshold effects that are delayed in time, with the delay depending upon the spatial separation between the contours. These delayed effects can be accounted for by lateral interactions that propagate with a velocity of about 0.65 deg/sec.
