Eye Movements During Simulated Radar Search

Abstract

The electrical method of eye-movement recording (the electro-oculogram, or EOG) was utilized to study visual search behavior while subjects monitored simulated radar displays. Information was obtained regarding the pattern of search employed, and the spatial distribution and duration of fixations. These factors are discussed in regard to their effect on the detection of targets in displays of this kind.
