Abstract
The light output of the Huggins-Bol, type A, high-pressure mercury arc discharge was measured. It was correlated to Baum and Dunkelman’s earlier comparison of the xenon arc to other ultraviolet sources including the General Electric AH-6 mercury lamp. It was found that the Huggins lamp is, at full load, about 1.5–1.8 times brighter than the AH-6 depending on wavelength. Self-reversal of radiation in the vicinity of the mercury resonance line is markedly decreased as compared with the AH-6.
