Abstract

Formulas are developed for calculating the Seidel partial coefficients for a lens system as functions of changes in the parameters of the system (bendings) to all orders of accuracy within the third-order theory. These formulas are used to obtain a set of second degree simultaneous equations for the correction of the Seidel aberrations for a four component varifocal system.
