Influence of Light Source Size on Diffraction by an Opaque Strip

Abstract

In this paper the effect of the extension of the light source on the interference fringes in the geometrical shadow of an opaque strip is examined. A relation between the width of the light source, the distance of the light source to the opaque strip, and the wavelength on which the interference fringes may be seen is established.
