Abstract

Several important uses have now been found for the Fabry-Perot interferometer in the near infrared. It has therefore become necessary to make a search for suitable semireflectors in this region. Silver has been found to be the most suitable metallic semireflector for near infrared interferometry. The optical properties of silver films have been measured for the 1–4-micron region. These properties have been interpreted in terms of the physical structure of the films.
