Abstract

Using the argon continuum as a background, the absorption spectrum of N2 was reinvestigated in the region between 1075 and 1650 A. None of the absorption in this region reported by Weissler was observed. The Lyman-Birge-Hopfield absorption bands were extended up to v′=13. Below 1130 A, four bands were observed, three of which might be explained as the first three bands of transition C3ΠuX1g+.
