Abstract
Spectral distribution of radiation intensity may be represented with equal reasonableness for equal increments of wavelength, of wave number, or of logarithmic units. The three methods show maxima at different wavelengths. The most clearly descriptive type of plot shows simply the cumulative energy up to a given wavelength against the logarithm of wavelength. The Wien maximum should be de-emphasized.
