Abstract
Equations are presented that locate a lens point which will direct light from an object of regard toward the eye’s center. These equations connect the coordinates of the lens point with those of the object point and the various geometrical and optical parameters associated with a wearer of an arbitrary prescription involving spherical and cylindrical corrections. The three-dimensional consideration points out the existence of certain “surfaces of binocular vision.” The text comments on the general impossibility of locating bifocal segments utilizing only the prismatic properties of the prescription and on a method to compute the magnitude of induced hyperphoria.
A graphical scheme to facilitate the use of the equations is included.
