Abstract
Thermal analysis studies of some common phosphors were made. The exothermic and endothermic reactions of the phosphors were correlated with the fluorescent output and x-ray diffraction patterns. The maximum output of fluorescence was obtained from well-crystallized phosphors as manifested by sharp x-ray diffraction lines. Thermal analyses in conjunction with x-ray analyses have been used to elucidate the changes which occur in the formation of phosphors and in determining their proper firing temperatures.
