Abstract
This paper contains the equation for the energy transmission in a polarized light equipment that is composed of lenses, two crossed polarizing prisms, two crossed mica plates in 45° position with respect to the prisms, and a light source that produces “white” light. The present study of the energy transmission is primarily a continuation of previous photoelastic researches, see references. However, it is believed that the equation given will be of interest and practical use not only for workers in the field of optical stress analysis, but also for investigators working with the same equipment along other lines.
