Abstract

We have proposed and demonstrated an all-fiber Yb-doped fiber laser (YDFL) that has adjustable peak positions and precisely controllable channel spacing. By exploiting a fused tapered fiber in one arm of a Mach–Zehnder interferometer, a multi-wavelength YDFL with finely controlled channel spacing has been achieved. By using another tapered fiber as a variable attenuator, both tunable single-wavelength and multi-wavelength lasing output have been obtained. We believe that the fused tapered fiber technology can be applied to the development of stable, wavelength-tunable all-fiber laser systems.
