Abstract
Interdata center applications are an important market segment for high-capacity wavelength-division multiplexed (DWDM) coherent optical interfaces, requiring low-cost, highly integrated solutions. The standardization of CFP2-ACO pluggable modules has created a template for the development of low-cost, high volume optical modules. Both the use of DP-16QAM and increasing the symbol-rate to 40 Gbaud facilitate a higher capacity and lower cost-per-bit. In this paper, we demonstrate the real-time commercial ASIC implementation of 1 Tb/s super-channel consisting of 4 × 40 Gbaud 50 GHz spaced DP-16QAM channels, and using CFP2-ACO pluggable modules. We show the error-free transmission over 6 × 104 km of G.652 fiber with 92 neighboring 100G channels.
