Abstract

In a previously published paper [1], the equation for the reflection coefficient R′ (Eq. 8) is incorrect. The correct equation is $R^\prime = {\{(1 - A)^2 R_0 + 4AR_0 \sin ^2 \left({2\pi nS/\lambda } \right)}\}/ {\{\left({1 - AR_0 } \right)^2 + 4AR_0 \sin ^2 \left({2\pi nS/\lambda } \right)}\}$ . This paper states that the equation can be approximately derived from the Fabry–Perot etalon model and the loss factor that is considered to occur in the gap between fiber ends.
