Abstract
The experimental demonstration of radio-over-fiber Wimedia-defined OFDM
ultrawide band (OFDM-UWB) wireless transmission in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH)
networks using standard single-mode fiber with lengths ranging from 25
to 100 km is reported in this paper. The transmission performance of two multichannel UWB configurations,
comprising three and five OFDM channels with QPSK and BPSK modulation per
carrier respectively, is evaluated. Both configurations transmit 1.56 Gbit/s
aggregated bit rate, suitable for integrated optical and wireless high definition
video distribution in FTTH networks. The experimental results show that an
increased transmission reach can be achieved if the lower number of OFDM-UWB
channels at higher bit rate per channel configuration is employed.
