Abstract
Cross-sensitivity is an important parameter of an accelerometer because
it directly affects the sensor's vector performance, which is paid more and
more attention to. In this paper, a suite of analytical models for researching
the cross-sensitivity performance of fiber-optic accelerometer is developed.
The theoretical and experimental research was carried out to demonstrate the
relation of the performance of a fiber-optic accelerometer based on compliant
cylinder and elastic properties of the cylinders. Three kinds of silicone
rubber cylinders with different Young's modulus were examined. By analyzing
the cross-sensitivity models of the sensor, some characteristics of cross-sensitivity
performance are revealed and discussed. Those models are useful for the design
of accelerometers of such type.
