Abstract

We employ the Magnus expansion to solve the differential equation for the frequency dependence of the Mueller matrix in the presence of polarization-mode dispersion and polarization-dependent loss. We then compare our solution with the results of previous authors and establish its accuracy to fifth order in frequency.
