Abstract
A simplified mathematical model for evaluating the performance of optical burst switching networks is
proposed. This model is described using a detailed state diagram. Two performance measures, namely, steady-state
system throughput and average blocking probability, are derived based on the equilibrium point analysis technique.
The effects of several design parameters on the above performance measures have been examined with the aid of a set
of numerical examples.
