Abstract

In the course of development, we found that light leakage in the dark state was observed when a thin-film transistor (TFT) driving twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal display (LCD) was switched in a particular frame-switching sequence. The light leakage in the dark state was caused by the disclination line in the sub-pixel. Further study showed that the disclination line can be eliminated by flattening topology of the inner surface of the cell or by increasing pre-tilt angle of the LC cell.
