Modified nonlocal means denoising uses orthogonal moments as feature descriptors to represent the patches pi, pj and pk in brain MRI. Transforming the similarity of patches from spatial to moment domain improves the denoising performance of medical images. For details, see Kumar, pp. 8156–8165.
