Near Infrared Reflection Spectra of Artificial Cumulus Clouds

Not Accessible

Abstract

Reflection spectra are presented for artificial cumulus clouds with a progression of droplet sizes, including sizes common in natural clouds, over the wavelength range from 1.0 μ to 2.4 μ. A correction is made for gaseous absorption. The spectra show reflectivity minima at 1.16 μ, 1.41 μ, and 1.92 μ which deepen as the droplets become larger and are in good agreement with reflection spectra of terrestrial clouds.
