Abstract

A theoretical analysis has been performed in order to determine optical homodyne signal strength as a function of path length difference between coherent spherical reference and signal waves. Signal strength is found to decrease with increasing path length mismatch. Experimental verification of the results are also given, along with methods for minimizing the detrimental effect of wavefront curvature.
