Abstract

The Image Optics and Photography Section of the National Bureau of Standards provides physical standards of measurement and calibration services, cooperates with national and international standardizing organizations, and conducts research related directly to the utilization of photographic materials and processes. Standardization and research in sensitometry, standard light sources, emulsion making, preservation of photographs, precise densitometry, and image evaluation have spanned a half century.
