Abstract
We propose a new method for precisely measuring the optical phase retardation of a
wave plate using modulated-polarized light. Modulated-polarized light is used such
that the zeros of the system can be accurately determined. A
Babinet–Soleil compensator is employed to measure the optical phase
retardation. A cross-wavelength measurement is also proposed for determining the
phase retardation at a wavelength,
which is not the measuring wavelength.
