Abstract

We discuss the use of parallel-access optical disks for high-speed pattern-recognition systems. Three practical configurations that make use of the unique properties of optical disks are discussed. A practical incoherent disk-based correlator is described, and its performance illustrated by use of both matched filters and computer-generated minimum average correlation energy filters.
