Abstract
Measurement of optical breakdown threshold in hydrogen gas with a KrF excimer laser at 248 nm is presented. The result shows a sharp increase of the threshold intensity at a few atmospheres of gas pressure when a focusing lens with a longer focal length is used. This enhancement is partially explained in terms of the influence of pump beam depletion in stimulated Raman scattering.
